The Standard Horizon GX1255S, the Quest, is an economically
priced marine VHF transceiver. Rugged and reliable it will take
whatever the conditions are encountered. Building a submersible
radio is not easy but the Quest is just that, submersible to JIS-7
standards. All International, USA and Canadian channels are available
with full dual watch and scanning facilities. Frequency control
is also available from the buttons on the handset. A large backlit
LCD display indicates the frequency selected with channel function
names and also the operating modes which have been selected.
Class SC101 DSC (Digital Selective Calling) is incorporated
for distress and safety purposes. For this the GX-1255 should be
interconnected with a GPS. Your boat's position will then be indicated
on the display and transmitted with any distress call. The DSC function
also allows the exchange of position information with another similarly
equipped boat.
